* Having a consultation with the attorneys does not establish an attorney-client relationship.
Consultation policy:
Law Offices of Douglas H. Kim is an immigration law firm, which represents clients from all 50 states as well as clients from anywhere in the world. We serve the needs of any client who wishes to find legal solutions to their immigration concerns. The consultation can be conducted in person or via telephone, depending on the the preference or convenience of the client. In order to set up an appointment, contact our office at 704-504-0962. We can assist you in Spanish and Korean. The attorney speaks both languages fluently.
If the client chooses to have a face-to-face consultation with the attorney:
- You may set up an appointment.
- The initial consultation fee is $150. The consultation fee will be waived if you decide to retain the attorney to handle your case.
- You will be asked to give a brief summary of your immigration needs before you come to the office and bring all relevant documents on the day of the consultation.
- On the day of the consultation, you may fill out a questionnaire form or our assistant may help you fill out the form. You may choose to answer the questions in the "Pre-Consultation Form" via this website and e-mail us your answers prior to the consultation date.
- The attorney will review all your documents and the questionnaire form, so that he may get to know you a little before he actually sits down with you.
- You can discuss your concerns and the attorney will ask you more questions in order to gain a clear understanding of your situation and the potential problems.
- Please be prepared to be totally honest and open with the attorney. All the conversations and documentations that you provide will be kept confidential. Do not be afraid to disclose all of your issues before the attorney. His job is to listen to your problems and come up with the best legal strategies to represent and protect you from any legal issues. He will not judge you in any way. It is better if the attorney is informed of all your past problems and events, so that he can do what he is supposed to do as your legal counsel at his maximal level. If you do not inform him of these problems and any government agency finds out about your past problems, your case will be considered fraudulent and denied. If the attorney is informed in advance, the attorney may disclose those problems upfront in your immigration applications with a compelling explanation as to why the immigration officer should forgive or overlook those past problems. Honesty is a much safer route compared to "not disclosing the whole truth."
- At the conclusion of the consultation session, the attorney will discuss what the best potential immigration strategies are, the anticipated time frame, and the costs for pursuing your immigration case.
- The consultation fee will be credited to you if you retain the attorney to provide additional services within 24 hours of the consultation.
If you choose to have a consultation via telephone (mostly preferred by long distance clients),
- The procedure is very similar to the face-to-face consultation. Two of the main differences will be that you will need to fill out the questionnaire from our website before the consultation and fax or mail your relevant documents to us. This form of consultation is effective.
- You may contact our office at the appointed time or you can choose to have our attorney contact you only if you reside within in the United States. Our office will not contact you if you reside outside the United States.
* Please contact our office for more detailed instructions at 704-504-0962. Also you may go to "Contact Us" section in this website and send us an e-mail.
